Step where the Hollywood stars have stepped during a new self-guided tour in the Stockyards. Stars of the Stockyards features eight famous stops where icons, television series, and movies were filmed.

Psst — if your local movie trivia skills are lacking, we have you covered with our local film guide. Here’s an overview of what you’ll see on the tour.

Hookers Grill, 213 W. Exchange Ave. | Known as the Gambling Den in “1883” and is the only building to preserve its facade constructed by the show’s production team.

White Elephant Saloon, 106 E. Exchange Ave. | Tim McGraw and Billy Bob Thornton were filmed inside Pearl’s Dance Hall in “1883.” It was also used as the CD Bar in the series “Walker, Texas Ranger” starring Chuck Norris.

The Stockyards Hotel, 109 E. Exchange Ave. | Infamous bank-robbing duo Bonnie and Clyde used Room 305 as a hideout in 1933 and left a gun behind.

Cowtown Coliseum, 121 E. Exchange Ave. | George Strait filmed the final rodeo scene in the 1992 movie “Pure Country.” The Coliseum is also where Dennis Quaid starred in the amateur boxing match scene in 1983’s “Tough Enough.”

Billy Bob’s Texas, 2520 Rodeo Plaza | Known as the Guitar Bar where a fight broke out in the 1991 film “Necessary Roughness” with Scott Bakula and Sinbad.

Livestock Exchange Building, 131 E. Exchange Ave. | Staged as the Mexican orphanage in the Netflix series “Queen of the South” starring Alice Braga.

Historic Cattle Pens, 131 E. Exchange Ave. | Sam Elliot, LaMonica Garrett, and Eric Nelson filmed several scenes walking through the pens during “1883.”

Swift Armour Meat Packing Plant, 600 E. Exchange Ave. | Served as a prison based in Panama during Season 3 of “Prison Break” starring Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller.

Expect new stops to be added to the tour in the future — Taylor Sheridan, Cowtown native and director of “1883" and “Yellowstone,” said he’s filming his new six-part series “Bass Reeves” in the Stockyards. The exact filming spots aren’t known yet.

The littlest new addition

The Fort Worth Zoo’s new baby gorilla

The Fort Worth Zoo welcomed a new member to the World of Primates habitat. ICYMI: The Western lowland gorilla, named Bruno, was born on Sunday, Nov. 6 weighing between four and five pounds.

Last week, we asked what you thought the baby ape should be named, here’s what you recommended.
  • Boots
  • Jabba
  • Drayton, nickname Dray
  • Turkey, because he was born in November
  • Gulliver, nickname Gully
  • Geordi
  • George
  • Eddie
  • Go-Go
The baby ape is only the second Western lowland gorilla to be born at the zoo. He was born to Gracie and Elmo, the parents of Gus, who was born at the zoo nearly seven years ago.

The new addition is not only a win for the zoo, but also for the Western lowland gorilla population. According to the zoo, these types of gorillas are critically endangered because of hunting, disease, and a low reproductive rate. The zoo participates in a cooperative breeding program for gorillas that maintains a healthy, self-sustaining population to help prevent their extinction.

Celebrate the zoo’s newest addition during the 30th Anniversary Festival on Saturday, Nov. 19. Guests can enjoy half-price admission all day along with live musical acts, photo ops, giveaways, and animal-themed activities.
