Small Business Saturday, an initiative dedicated to celebrating and supporting small and locally-owned businesses + the impact they have in our communities, is on Saturday, Nov. 30.

The day falls between two of the biggest shopping days of the year — Black Friday and Cyber Monday — and has become an annual shopping tradition for many since its establishment by American Express in 2010.

If you’re looking to join in on the festivities this year, check out this list of some of City Editor Kate + City Editor Elizabeth’s favorite small businesses in town — and some extra suggestions from our followers.

Guardado Garden Center | City Editor Kate loves nothing more than sprucing up her garden with new plants from this west side nursery + just can’t say no to a talavera animal pot.

Doc’s Records | Stop by for Record Store Day on Friday, Nov. 29 to shop limited edition vinyl releases exclusive to independent record stores + hunt through the vintage booths for extra discounts.

Flipstone Vintage and Thrift | Shop on Black Friday for 20% off all decor and furniture + come back on Small Business Saturday for the Fill-A-Bag Sale. Plus, get $5 off $50 clothing purchases and a $10 jewelry gift when you spend $40 on jewelry.

Roy Pope Grocery | Enjoy 10% off coffee all-day and complimentary wine tastings from 11-7 p.m. on Saturday. Wines will rotate every 2 hours so there will be a variety of tastings all day long.

Martin House Brewing Company | This local brewery is a go-to for City Editor Elizabeth. Known for unique brews like Best Maid sour pickle and Girl Scout cookie, Martin House distributes to several DFW restaurants and liquor stores so you don’t have to travel far to enjoy. On Saturday, it is hosting a petting zoo, vendors, and music — in addition to the 30 beers on tap.

Looking for more spots for your shopping spree? Check out these small businesses our followers love:

  • TakeMeBack Century |This vintage shop “has some of the best selection in Fort Worth when it comes to high quality, mid-century modern furniture. The owner is so friendly, knowledgeable about her pieces, and you can tell she loves what she does. We’ve bought a few pieces from them and it’s always high quality at great prices without the runaround. Love them!” — @you.can.call.mee.al
  • Frida Beauty Collective | In addition to being nominated 10 times, Frida Beauty Collective took some time to lift up other small businesses in our Instagram post.
  • Lemon Cake Boutique | This Vickery Boulevard shop is lauded for having the “cutest clothes.” — @sophiadawson07
  • Ostara Coffee Roasters | “Our Sunday coffee hour is not complete without Ostara Coffee.” — @fwchurchplant
  • A Little Something Cookies | “The owner is the sweetest and most genuine person who really cares about her product and spends so much time on the design of each order. Plus she makes the prettiest and most delicious cookies in DFW!” — @bethanysrainey
