Sisters Rebeckah and Isamar Garcia purchased a little Hawaiian shaved ice trailer during the pandemic. Little did they know that their family-run stand Sweetzy’s Snowcones (3400 Bernie Anderson Ave.) would soon become one of the most popular places in town to cool off with a sweet treat.

Sweetzy’s — which is open from 3-8 p.m. on weekdays and 1-8 p.m. on weekends — is bordered by Katie Murray’s colorful Dolly Parton mural on the side of The Market at Ridglea. Kick back under the pastel umbrellas with one of their 35+ special combinations or swing by the drive-thru and build your own with 70+ flavors.

Try This: We went all out with a rainbow snow cone loaded up with sour strips, gummy worms, Nerds candy, and lollipops served in a pineapple.

As much as we’re star-struck for Sweetzy’s, the Texas summer is long and hot + there are a lot more snow cones, shaved ice, raspas, and snowball stands to taste test. Stay cool at these 15 local places. Dare to try them all?

Need an icy delight for your next event? The Sweetzy’s snowcone-loving sisters are also available for table-side service.

Bookmark this list for a snow scavenger hunt this summer.
