Tarrant Area Food Bank breaks ground on a new AgHub in Fort Worth, TX

TAFB’s service area and distribution centers support nearly half a million people across the region.

The Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) will hold a groundbreaking ceremony today for a new agricultural food hub in the Foundry District.

The Sid Richardson Agricultural Hub (AgHub) will allow TAFB to increase the organization’s fresh produce distribution by 10% . The 7,500-sqft facility will take in food from local farmers — as well as growers in South Texas and Arizona — to sort and redistribute to 500 local food banks and agencies.

TAFB director Julie Butner said the AgHub (205 N. Vacek St.) will help at least 450,000 people across 13 counties.

According to a recent filing , the project will cost an estimated $3.5 million and also includes an office renovation for the distribution center on Cullen Street and the addition of a larger cooler. The total construction project will measure 43,000+ sqft and wrap up at the beginning of August.
