Did you know the Texas honey industry is one of the largest in the country? According to the Texas Department of Agriculture, last year was the first successful season for Texas honey production after many dry seasons. Beekeepers produced ~4 million pounds of honey, worth nearly $9 million.

News Notes

Announced

Did you know that when Fort Worth’s Log Cabin Village first opened in 1966, the price of admission was just 25 cents? The museum is inviting guests to a free 60th birthday celebration with family-friendly activities, demonstrations + more from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, April 18. (Fort Worth Report)

Kids

Does your kid have what it takes to become one of the world’s youngest marine biologists? SEA LIFE Grapevine’s Mini Marine Biologist contest is now open. Through Sunday, April 19, kids can submit a drawing of an imaginary sea creature and a 100-word essay for a chance to win prizes.

Travel

DFW Airport’s American Express Centurion lounge is getting a major expansion, which will include more seating, a full-service bar, and a walk-up ice cream window. The lounge is expected to stay open during construction. Find out how you can access the lounge. (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)

Sports

Next May, one of golf’s four major championships will return to DFW for the first time in 60 years. Ticket registration is now open for the PGA Championship, May 17-23, 2027, at PGA Frisco. Registration places individuals on a first-come, first-served basis when sales officially begin on Wednesday, May 20.

Real Estate

The former Los Vaqueros building, which dates back to 1915, is back on the market. In 2024, the mixed-use property was bought from the Cisneros family, who said that the cost of upgrading the building is very steep. (Fort Worth Report)

Weather

According to Meteorologist Pete Dulkus, this week brings more “spring-like” temps in the mid-70s to low 80s. We could see a slight chance of rain starting Friday and into the weekend, but it shouldn’t put a damper on any events you may have planned.
