⚖️ Calling civic-minded young adults

In need of a summer job? Look no further than the city’s NextGen Ambassador Program.

Explore careers in local government, learning about the daily operations of the public sector. Up to 40 young adults (ages 17-22) will be paired with city departments to work for 20 hours per week at $18 per hour. Participants will also receive weekly sessions on professional development and skill building.

Online applications are open now through Tuesday, April 7 for the eight-week program that runs from Tuesday, June 2 to Friday, July 24.

Some of the job opportunities include:
  • Helping in the Fort Worth Public Library
  • Administration in the mayor’s and city manager’s office
  • Communications and social media for the Water Department
  • Working at one of the city’s recreation centers
  • Learning about emergency management with the Fort Worth Fire Department

Film

State

Reese’s Peanut Butter Bunnies are the most popular Easter candy in Texas, according to DoorDash. The study also found that Texans prefer yellow Peeps, and we’re in good company — 17 other states agree.

Eat

Arlington’s now-gone Campo Verde is getting replaced with an upscale steakhouse. Theodore’s Steak & Seafood — named after former US president Theodore Roosevelt — will open this month and serve up entrees like bison rib-eye, lobster, lamb chops + chicken parmesan. (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)

Traveling through DFW’s Terminal E soon? You will now find BREWED coffee on your way to catch a flight, but that’s not its only airport location. The restaurant first opened a location in Terminal D in 2018. More local favorites could hit the airport soon. (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)

Arts

Two new public art installations have been approved for the city of Fort Worth, totalling over $189,000. One mural, honoring Black History Month, will go up at the Eugene McCray Community Center, while a sculpture, paying homage to firefighters, will go up at the future Fire Station 37. Sports

The official North Texas transportation plan for the 2026 World Cup was unveiled this week. If you’re planning to attend a match or Fan Festival, find maps of fan zones, rail lines, bus routes, and walking routes online. You’ll even find future road closures and designated Rideshare lots.

Real Estate

Another development is coming to Parker County, and 240 homes are already planned. Clearion will include ~200 executive, cottage, and estate homes, as well as ~40 signature and luxury homes. (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)
