🩴 A walk to remember

If you haven’t been following along, on Sunday, Oct. 26, 19 Buddhist monks embarked on a 2,300-mile Walk for Peace from Fort Worth to Washington DC.

Now 108 days later, they’ve reached the nation’s capital, concluding their mission to spread peace and mindfulness. They return home this Saturday, Feb. 14 — and there’s one more chance to join them.

But first, let’s hear from other 6AM City editors who got to experience the walk first-hand in their towns:
  • On Thursday, Jan. 15, the monks reached Charlotte, NC. Maria of CLTtoday said, “if you have a chance to see the Walk for Peace, highly recommend. I saw strangers hugging, crying, and coming together. A true community moment.”
  • On Monday, Feb. 9, they arrived in Alexandria, VA. Ava of NOVAtoday shared that “residents lined the streets to watch as the monks walked through, nearing the end of their journey. The monks waved at locals, saying good morning, while handing out flowers. I would be lying if I said I didn’t get a little emotional.”

The Wrap

Here’s a bonus statement about the Walk for Peace from Cat, a 6AM manager out of North Carolina — “I saw them on their way to downtown Raleigh. The joy — and the silence — from such a large crowd was overwhelming. People were crying, handing out flowers, and really soaking in a rare moment of stillness for our community.”

Fort Worthians — I want to see you all this Saturday, Feb. 14, to welcome the Buddhist monks back to their home sanctuary.
