Join tea experts at Hao’s every Thursday night from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. Enjoy authentic Asian teas directly from their source, vegan delicacies from It’s Food, and live music from talented DJs. It’s parTEA-time.

News Notes

Holiday

Today, Dec. 31 is the last day of Celebrate Kwanzaa 2025 at The Dock Bookshop. Shop the Dock from 1 to 7 p.m., take the kiddos to the Kid Zone for arts, crafts + games from 2 to 4 p.m., or enjoy a local art show from 4 to 7 p.m.

Shop

Got holiday cash to spend? Three new stores have opened at The Shops at Clearfork: Design Within Reach, Johnston & Murphy, and Oak & Eden. And that’s not all — two more retailers are set to open soon. (CultureMap Fort Worth)

Weather

After a brief cold snap, North Texas is returning to above normal temperatures for New Year’s Eve. Expect cool temperatures and dry conditions. As always, we get our weather updates from WFAA’s weatherman Pete Delkus.

Eat

Former owner of Sabar BBQ — which just closed this month — Zain Shafi has rejoined the team of Goldee’s. Shafi is taking the place of co-founder Jonny White at the once-rated No. 1 barbecue restaurant in Texas. Does this mean we’ll see his signature Pakistani-Tex on the menu? We hope so. (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)

Parks

New amenities are headed to Gateway Park as part of its $25 million revitalization project. Ground will be broken by spring 2026 to make way for a new soccer field, a new playground, connections to the Trinity Trails, bonus roads + additional parking. We’ll keep you in the loop on updates. (Fort Worth Report)

History

Several spots in the Historic Southside have been approved for a Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) by the Fort Worth Landmarks Commission — which means exterior changes could occur to better suit the neighborhood’s historic character. Find out which locations and what changes were approved. (Fort Worth Report)

Announced

According to an Instagram post from Camp Bowie District, the future Fort Worth Shug’s Bagels will be inside the former J&G Oasis Beverage Center. While the bagel shop is still in the early planning stages, check out these 8+ other stores to get your dough-y fix.

The Word

Betwixtmas. That’s the new word for the week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve — aka a time period that many describe as feeling “meaningless.” If you’re struggling to fill your Betwixtmas, we recommend exploring our events calendar. (KVUE)

The Wrap

If you’ve been wondering what this editor did over the holidays (aside from lots of eating and spending time with family and friends), I was back home in Arkansas. By the time you read this newsletter, I’ll have returned to my regular post in Fort Worth.

Tonight, I’m headed to Lights All Night in Dallas to ring in the New Year. I haven’t worked on my New Year’s resolutions, though. If you have time, send me yours so I have some inspiration handy.
