🎬 Take a movie, leave a movie

The only Free Blockbuster in DFW is located in Hurst. | Photo by FTWtoday
First, there were Little Free Libraries. Then, there were free little Blockbusters. This October, the first Free Blockbuster opened up in DFW.

Hop in your car and head to Hurst. Similar to Little Free Libraries, the concept is simple. For every movie you take, you leave a movie behind. VHS tapes, DVDs, and other entertainment media are accepted.

Which Fort Worth-area neighborhood deserves the next Free Blockbuster? Don’t tell us — establish a franchise instead. Official Blockbuster boxes start at $420, but you can use virtually anything, like an old newspaper box.

The nearest Free Blockbuster outside of DFW is Baker’s Lakeshore Market in Corsicana — which opened in October 2024.

Hungry for more? Try a Little Free Pantry next.

Camp Bowie’s Uncle Julio’s has reopened after a $1 million remodeling. After its September health inspection, the Mexican restaurant closed to take care of some much-needed repairs on its 37-year-old building. Two more locations remain open as well. (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)

WFAA’s Paul Livengood shared that Texas Tech is “Championship Bound.” This Saturday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m., catch the Raiders battle the BYU Cougars in the 2025 Big 12 Football Championship at AT&T Stadium. Tickets start at $200.

Coming Soon

According to some FTW city filings, we’re looking out for a boozy ice cream shop headed straight to downtown. Lalo’s Ice Cream has filed a permit to serve alcoholic beverages — across the street from Sundance Square Plaza. As more details become available, FTWtoday will keep you in the know. Award

Fort Worth’s M.L. Leddy’s is among the best clothing stores in the US. Don’t take our word for it. That’s according to the New York Times’ new list of the best 50 places to buy new threads nationwide. The list commends the store for its “thousands [of boots] in leathers ranging from calf to alligator.”
The Dallas Stars beat the Ottawa Senators 6-1 Sunday night as Wyatt Johnston scored his fourth career hat trick with two power-play goals, becoming the NHL’s First Star of the Week. Get the biggest stories every day with Locked On’s team-focused daily podcasts.

Today Is

Step aside Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Today is Travel Tuesday. Today’s the day to get big discounts on flights, hotels, cruises, and more. You’ll need our guide to DFW after you book your tickets. (Condé Nast)

Travel

And speaking of DFW Airport, Sunday was the busiest day of Thanksgiving travel, where travelers faced long delays and changing traffic patterns. Officials shifted flights and added staff — helping ease the congestion for many passengers. (CBS Texas)

The Buy

The perfect two-piece sweater set for winter. It features a long sleeve crew neck top paired with a split hem midi skirt. We love that it’s cute, comfy, and warm, and can be dressed up or down for any occasion. Bonus: It’s available in some great seasonal colorways like almond white + red white.

The Wrap

Today’s edition by: Elizabeth Hastings

Sunday night, I got to see Wyatt Johnston’s hat trick IRL. In case you didn’t know — when a hat trick occurs, the team will usually mail back your hat if you toss one on the ice. Just make sure to write or pin your name and mailing address inside — otherwise, it gets donated to The Dallas Stars Foundation. Maybe worth losing a hat?
