News Notes

Mansion Monday

You won’t believe the square footage of this house that’s going up for auction starting Wednesday, Dec. 3. The Montserrat mansion features castle architecture, seven bedrooms, and you’re kidding — 18 bathrooms.

Open

From the team of Don Artemio, the highly anticipated Dos Mares opened Friday, Nov. 14. Expect ceviches, fish tacos on house-made tortillas, and seafood dishes like grilled branzino. Tropical cocktails and a bright, ocean-inspired dining room round out the new Fort Worth spot. Find more openings. (CultureMap Fort Worth)
Fans are buzzing over Tom Felton’s Broadway debut as Draco Malfoy in “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.” Headed to New York for the holidays? Snag tickets soon — or catch a Broadway-style show closer to home at Bass Performance Hall.

State

Yes, everything is bigger in Texas. The world’s largest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas, will set sail out of Galveston in August 2027. The massive ship will travel to The Bahamas; Roatan, Honduras; and Cozumel, Mexico. (KHOU)

Eat

Taco Bell is selling a Baja Blast-flavored pie this Thanksgiving. The drink’s signature tropical lime flavor has been turned into a filling on a graham cracker crust, topped with whipped cream. To each their own, but we prefer picking up seasonal desserts from Fort Worth’s small businesses like Swiss Pastry Shop. (People)

The Buy

A really good heating pad to get you through the winter season. The Buy Editor Sarah recently tested one from Pure Enrichment’s selection — its plush cover is ultra soft, it heats up quickly, and it features an automatic shut-off feature. Pro tip: Heat the pad up under your bed covers before you climb in on cold winter nights.

Bonus: Use code HSN2025 to save $10 off $20 through November.

The Wrap

Today’s edition by: Elizabeth Hastings

On Friday, I met Kathryn Allison — who plays Juliet’s nurse Angélique in the national tour of Broadway’s "& Juliet.” The show wrapped at Bass Hall yesterday, but before the curtain closed, Kathryn shared her musical theater journey and favorite prop — an afro hair pick. She said her favorite parts of Fort Worth have been The Stockyards, Clearfork, and Marche Bleu.

Missed this stop on Broadway at the Bass? The next performance will be “A Christmas Story: The Musical,” which premieres Friday, Dec. 5.
