💀 Día de los Muertos

Dressing as La Catrina during DĂa de los Muertos celebrations has become a cherished way to honor the holiday.

This Saturday, Nov. 2, Artisan Circle and La Cabrona will shut down Crockett Street for its second annual Dias de los Muertos outdoor festival. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., shop from many artisan vendors, try delicious street food — like tacos, fruit cups + elote — enjoy La Cabrona’s all-you-can-eat buffet, and watch live mariachi performances.

Pssst — Don’t miss the photo opp with “La Catrina” AKA the symbol of Dias de los Muertos. But for more fun, we encourage you to dress up as her.

The family-friendly event is free to attend. Editor’s tip — parking will be free at the Artisan Circle garages.

Asked

News Notes

Mansion Monday

Zillow just released its 2026 home trends, and two trends we’re keeping an eye out for are color-drenching and pickleball courts. If those sound nice, this 6,863-sqft home is for you — which includes both. Be the trendiest homeowner in Fleming Pointe.

Travel

You may soon be able to catch a Southwest Airlines flight out of DFW International Airport. CEO Bob Jordan announced plans to operate gates out of the airport in the coming years, breaking from its existing structure of solely operating out of Dallas Love Field. (WBAP)

Feel Good

A Fort Worth firefighter — injured when a garage collapsed on him — is finally home after 34 days in a burn unit. He was joined by his premature newborn son, who spent the first 122 days of his life in the NICU. WFAA’s Scoop Jefferson shared the story that’s tugging at our heartstrings.

Sports

It’s been almost two years since the Texas Rangers took the title of World Series champs. Although they aren’t playing, listen to a preview of the MLB’s annual championship. Plus, hear thorough analyses on players, including Adolis Garcia — all with Locked On Rangers daily podcast episodes.

Seasonal

Gather ‘round the campfire. As Halloween creeps closer, it’s the perfect time to read Texas’ creepiest urban legend. It’s the tale of the Candy Lady, a figure from the early 1900s said to menace a small rural town. Don’t scare easily? Uncover the stories behind Fort Worth’s most haunted buildings. (Business Insider)

Active

An 80-year-old recently became the oldest woman to cross the finish line at the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii. Natalie Grabow completed the 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile cycle, and 26.2-mile run in just under 17 hours. Time to hit the gym. (NPR)

Tech

Netflix, DoorDash, Snapchat, Spotify, and Fortnite were among the services impacted by last week’s major Amazon Web Services outage, and not for the first time. The next time doom-scrolling isn’t available, we recommend spending some time in Panther City’s beautiful outdoors. (Reuters)

Arts

Swifties are flocking to see Ophelia. Friedrich Heyser’s artistic depiction of Shakespeare’s tragic character is helping fill the halls of Germany’s Museum Wiesbaden thanks to Swift’s recent popular single, “The Fate of Ophelia.” If you want to see Shakespeare come to life in FTW, keep your eye on Stolen Shakespeare Guild’s schedule. The Wrap

Today’s edition by: Elizabeth Hastings

We’ve teased the opening of Dan’s Bagels long enough. The newest location of this viral bagel shop in Fort Worth soft-opened on Friday, with plans for a grand opening this weekend. According to their Instagram post, the staff is still training and learning the ropes, so please be kind and courteous.

I jetted across town on Friday while there was still time left — after all, items were limited. I can’t wait to be back to try their sandwich bagels.
