🗺️ The world awaits

Do you recognize this city? It sits on the same latitude as Fort Worth.

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you walked in a straight line around the world from Fort Worth? Wonder no longer, wanderer.

Let us introduce you to LatLon Connect, an online tool that allows users to explore cities across the world that share the same latitude and longitude.

Here’s what we found

In our search, we stuck with the default settings, looking for places with 100,000+ people with a buffer zone of 6.21 miles (that’s 10 kilometers).

Dozens of results popped up, with the most populated city lying on the other side of the world: Shiyan in China, pictured above. Its ~3.2 million people live among the Wudang Mountains — a quite stunning mountain range, steeped in history, tradition, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The largest US city Cowtown is aligned with? San Diego, California (hey, SDtoday). We won’t spoil which other cities we found. Explore for yourself.

The Mavericks and Stars could leave the American Airlines Center by 2031. No deals just yet, but we asked fans where they think the teams should go if they do — and Fort Worth got plenty of love. Readers Abbey A., Mike D., and Sherry S. pointed to Dickies Arena, Sarah G. and Sheila M. said Fort Worth, Jeanne L. wants them to stay in downtown Dallas, and Terri P. suggested Arlington. Where would you cheer them on next?
