Cartwright says she lives by the motto, “an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay.” | Photo by Visit Fort Worth
Fort Worth tourism bureau Visit Fort Worth recently hired Georgia Cartwright as its newest Trail Boss and Director of the Fort Worth Herd. Cartwright succeeds Kristin Jaworski — who held the title for 20+ years.
Head of the herd
Cartwright is no stranger to cattle and has been in the business since she was young. She and her husband Alan Cartwright own Benbrook’s Cartwright Ranch — which has been operating since 1965. It offers funeral caisson services, horse-drawn wedding carriages, stagecoaches, parade wagons, and more for special events.
What is a Trail Boss?
As Trail Boss, Cartwright leads the iconic twice-daily cattle drive down East Exchange Avenue through the Stockyards. She’ll ensure historical authenticity through the uniforms and presentation of the drive and drovers. Lastly, she’ll oversee all herd events and operations, prioritizing safety for both the herd and the public.
Catch Georgia and the herd clop through the Stockyards every day at 11:30 a.m. or 4 p.m.

I had so much fun attending my first Lucchese Live & Local earlier this month. I can’t wait for temperatures to cool down and then Friday nights at Willow Park will really be the it-place for families to be.
Editor’s tip — as you’re walking down to the Lucchese stage, snag a picture on the The District’s oversized lawn chair. Trust me — you won’t miss it. LOL.
