🖼️ Director of Amon Carter resigns

On April 1, 2011, Andrew J. Walker stepped into the role of executive director, at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, succeeding the retirement of Dr. Ron Tyler. Walker — who was working at the Saint Louis Art Museum at the time — packed up his bags and moved to Panther City.

Over 14 years later, Walker announced his resignation this week. His last day is Sunday, Aug. 31. The museum’s COO Scott Wilcox will act as interim director while the national search for Walker’s successor begins.

To commemorate 14 successful years as director of one of Fort Worth’s most notable museums, let’s highlight three ways the museum wouldn’t be the same without him:
  • The works of Thomas Eakins and William M. Harnett — he assisted in researching these painters.
  • The museum’s website — Walker launched the site in 2019.
  • The “Cowboy” exhibit — one of the museum’s most talked-about exhibits reexamined popular myths.

Self-care isn’t all spa days and forest bathing — although we do love a nice hot stone massage. More often than not, it’s the simple things like prioritizing rest, practicing good hygiene, and practicing mindfulness. Elevate your self-care rituals with these five products:

🫧 Treat your skin to a little TLC with a Moroccan exfoliating glove that gently removes dead skin + cleans pores.
💧Elevate your favorite reading or journaling space with an aroma diffuser and lavender essential oils.
🛏️ Look forward to snuggling into bed every night when you score this jersey knit sheet set at up to 75% off.
💤 Pair your new sheets with the Nodpod gentle weighted sleep mask that’s described as “a hug for your head.”
🧥 When you’re craving comfort + relaxation, don this ultra-soft Barefoot Dreams cardigan that’s over 50% off.
