It turns out your neighbor probably had a Fort Worth Star-Telegram paper route back in the day. As a high school student in the mid-1950s, Jim P. remembers that papers “had to be delivered on foot to front porches and using a bicycle or car was a firing offense.”
His 6.5-mile route was the longest in the city, but he got to know his 200+ customers and bought a fancy 1949 Chevrolet convertible with his wages.

How is the city of Arlington preparing for the 2026 World Cup? Ahead of the international event, the city approved $175 million in upgrades, including $12 million for the municipal airport. Other improvements include water treatment, library renovations + public safety. (Arlington Report)

Good news. DFW just ranked last on WalletHub’s list of Changes in Inflation by City. The finance company reviewed 23 major metros in the US and looked at their Consumer Price Indexes. It compared the latest month to two months prior + one year ago to see how much the rate has changed.

What’s higher than a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader’s kicks? Their latest pay raise, supposedly. “America’s Sweethearts” will be getting a 400% increase in salary. In 2022, it was reported they earned $15-$20 an hour, while the club’s worth was $9 billion. Follow WFAA’s Paul Livengood for more. (WFAA)
