This week marks four years since Juneteenth was announced as a federal holiday. On Thursday, join the “Grandmother of Juneteenth,” Dr. Opal Lee for the annual Walk of Freedom at Farrington Field.
After a brief stint in a Cincinnati hospital earlier this month, the 98-year-old will complete her annual 2.5-mile march to educate the nation that freedom is for everyone. The event begins at 8:15 a.m. + the walk begins at 9 a.m. There’s still time to register.

Elementary and middle school reading scores at the Fort Worth ISD are on the rise, according to the latest State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) test results. Compared to 2024, third and fifth-grade scores rose by 5%, while fourth-grade scores rose by 6%. The ISD board aims to improve math scores next. (Fort Worth Report)

The Jonas Brothers have announced revised tour locations for their “Jonas20: Greetings from Your Hometown” 20th anniversary tour.
