The 125th US Open kicks off today. The legendary American golfer Ben Hogan won four US Opens over six years. He spent much of his life in Fort Worth, including caddying at the Glen Garden Golf and Country Club (now closed) and founding the Ben Hogan Golf Equipment Company in 1953.
Today, a statue of Hogan can be seen at the Colonial Country Club, nicknamed “Hogan’s Alley” for the athlete’s five wins at the annual PGA Charles Schwab Tournament, previously known as the Colonial National Invitation.
