Dickies Arena | Capacity: 9,300-14,000
Named one of the best venues in the world by Billboard, the multi-purpose arena opened in 2019 and has welcomed some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry. Later this year, the arena will see Mary J. Blige and Rascal Flatts.

Bass Performance Hall | Capacity: 2,000+
The multi-purpose facility stands out in Sundance Square with its majestic angel sculptures. In 2025, guests can look forward to “Les Misérables” and “Moulin Rouge! The Musical.”

Billy Bob’s Texas | Capacity: 6,000
Known as the world’s largest honky-tonk, the concert hall was named the Best Honky-Tonk in Fort Worth by FTWtoday readers. The venue has a Wall of Fame with autographs and hand prints from Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Garth Brooks.

Development

A new $3.2-million multifamily housing complex is set to break ground next month. According to a recent state filing, the 24-unit complex, known as The Hills of Lancaster, will be located along East Lancaster Avenue + is set to open in February 2026.

Civic

Most municipal buildings, public libraries, and community centers will be closed on Monday, Jan. 20 in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. There will be no changes to residential waste collection or emergency services. Trinity Metro will operate on a modified schedule.

Real Estate

Don’t wait until April — 2024 Tarrant County property taxes are due by Friday, Jan. 31 to avoid penalties and interest. Payments can be made online, over the phone, by mail, or in person at all eight Tarrant County Tax Office locations.

Legacy

Co-founder of Hip Pocket Theatre and honored costume designer Mary Diane Simons died at 80 years old. Simons helped found the fringe theater company in 1976 with her husband Johnny and Douglas Balentine. Simons’ daughters Lake and Lorca now serve as artistic directors. (Fort Worth Report)
It’s raining cats and dogs — well, not really, but they’re in the sky. The Humane Society of North Texas partnered with Wings of Rescue and Best Friends Animal Society to fly adoptable pets from California shelters to North Texas during the wildfires.
