Happy New Year, Cowtown.

2025 is here and comes with a whole new year of reasons to have Panther City pride. Who knows what new bars might open, what infrastructure changes we might see + what art installations will pop up over town? But we know one thing for sure — we want to write about what matters to you, our readers, the most.

That’s why we’re polling the crowd for questions you want answered in 2025. Want to know where to get the best burger or where the oldest trees are in Funkytown?

Dream big, and tell us what’s in your heart, because the questions you asked us last year were some of our favorite topics to cover — like the history of LaGrave Field + where to play mahjong.

Asked

What would you like to learn?

It’s our New Year’s resolution to answer 25 of these, so stay tuned in 2025 as we bring you the FTW answers you want most.

News Notes

Weather

As potential snow flurries come in tonight, WFAA meteorologist Pete Delkus is looking back at DFW’s record snowfall. In February 2010, 12.5 inches of snow fell across the metroplex. Follow WFAA for updates about the winter storm watch.

Community

The Fort Worth Zoo’s iguana sculpture has temporarily come down from the roof of the animal hospital. The 40-ft long “Iggy” is being refurbished for the first time in 15 years, but will return later this spring. In the meantime, help Iggy explore Cowtown with your own Flat Stanley-style cutout.

Civic

The city is reminding residents that they can go to Presbyterian Night Shelter, Union Gospel Mission, and The Salvation Army to shelter from the storm. The Transportation and Public Works Department will be monitoring roads to sand priority areas. Follow Keep Fort Worth Beautiful for updates on garbage collection services.

Open

Four new stores are now open in The Shops at Clearfork. Shoppers can now sniff scents at Chanel Fragrance & Beauty and Jo Malone, try on casual-but-elegant clothes at CH Carolina Herrera, and peruse home goods at The Worthy Co., which supports survivors of human trafficking.

Real Estate

Local investment firm MainStreet Partners purchased the historic W.T. Grant department store building downtown at the end of December. The 1939 building is home to The Library and Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar. Renovation plans have yet to be announced, but owner Mitchell Parker sees potential in the vacant 8,600-sqft basement. (Dallas Business Journal)

Closed

Two West 7th bars have closed their doors “indefinitely.” Bottled Blonde Pizzeria + Beer Garden and outdoor bar Backyard shuttered mid-December. See where else to sip a happy hour special around Cowtown. (CultureMap Fort Worth)
