For 30 years, the MLK Day of Service has grown as more people embrace the idea that citizenship involves taking an active role in improving the communities where we live, work, and play.
Downtown Fort Worth Initiatives Inc. reached $43 million of its $50 million fundraising goal for the revitalization of Heritage and Paddock parks. Andy Taft, president of the nonprofit, says fundraising efforts go towards the redevelopment and connection of the Trinity River to the parks. (Fort Worth Report)

The Fort Worth Public Library announced a free, year-round program called Fort Worth Fun Tracker. The Fun Tracker helps locals of all ages find adventure across the city through library programs. Participation will earn you experience points which go toward a drawing at the end of the year.

Move over — there’s a new beer garden in town.Crystal Springs Hideaway, the birth-child of Fort Worth’s JD and Shanna Granger, is now open in River District. Housed in a 100-year-old bungalow, this new restaurant features 25+ craft beers, burgers, and cocktails.

In other beer news, popular taproom and restaurant Fort Brewery & Pizza closed its doors last month after five years. Don’t worry though — the brewery’s wholesale business has more than doubled in the last two years and its craft brews can be found in 175+ locations throughout DFW. (CultureMap Fort Worth)

In case you missed it, Fort Worth surpassed Austin as the fourth-largest city in Texas trailing behind Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas. Cowtown’s population grew to 989,878 by Jan. 1, 2024, while Austin grew to 986,928, missing the title by a mere 2,950. (FOX4 News)
