Putting (plating) Texas on the map

The Lone Star State just earned a few more stars — 15 to be exact. Michelin and Travel Texas teamed up to launch the first Michelin Guide Texas, and the inaugural stars were awarded last night in Houston.

Southeast Fort Worth’s Goldee’s Barbecue received a Bib Gourmand Award for offering a high-quality meal at a reasonable price.

Nearly 20 North Texas restaurants were given Michelin recommendations — not quite a star, but a nod to culinary excellence — including South Main smokehouse Panther City BBQ and the Eastside’s Birrieria Y Taquieria Cortez.

Other DFW-area restaurants and chefs now boasting accolades include:
  • Tatsu Dallas by chef Tatsuya Sekiguchi | One Michelin Star
  • Julian Shaffer, Rye, Dallas | Exceptional Cocktails
The stars last until the next guide is announced. Keep an eye on ATXtoday and SATXtoday for other foodie announcements further south.

While not officially recognized by Michelin, our readers recommended five local chefs and eight local restaurants to hang in the sky.
