We hope you’re hungry — It’s time to book your reservations for DFW Restaurant Week. Foodies can explore delicious food + specials at 19 local eateries while supporting regional nonprofits.
First things first
Take “week” with a grain of salt — the 28th annual fundraiser will actually kick off with a preview weekend starting Thursday, Aug. 1. The primary specials will run Monday, Aug. 5-Sunday, Aug. 11, but there are optional extensions lasting until Sunday, Sept. 1.
What to expect
Reservations can be made for a $29 two-course lunch or brunch, $49-$59 three-course dinner, or $99 signature experience.
Don’t miss a chance to sample the summer seafood selections along the Trinity River.
Late 1080 KRLD radio host Jim Whitestarted the festival in support of local charities including the North Texas Food Bank and Lena Pope, a local nonprofit that helps Tarrant County kids in need. During the event, participating Fort Worth-area restaurants will donate 20% of the proceeds to Lena Pope, while Dallas-area restaurants will support the North Texas Food Bank.
In 2023, DFW Restaurant Week raised over $545,000, bringing the total over the last 27 years to over $11 million in charitable donations.

City Council voted to adopt the Fort Worth Urban Forest Master Plan, allowing for the management and preservation of the city’s tree canopy. The plan will guide future decisions and protect the 2,500 acres of natural open space that Cowtown loses annually.
Outdoors
Due to rising temperatures, the Fort Worth Botanic Garden and Fort Worth Zoo have updated summer operating hours for the safety of patrons and animals. The garden will close daily at 3 p.m. until Monday, Sept. 30 + the zoo will close at 4 p.m. on weekdays and 5 p.m. on weekends until Friday, Aug. 30.

This fall, a Houston-based sweet shop will start service in Southlake Town Square. Sweet Paris Crêperie & Café will offer crepes, hot drinks, and mimosas in the former Rockfish Seafood location. Our mouths are already watering for the apple cinnamon creme bruléecrepe.
History
Welcome home “Nancy Lee” — the Huey Helicopter was installed in its permanent display in the new National Medal of Honor Museum, set to open in Arlington in March 2025. The helicopter owned by Medal of Honor recipient US Army Maj. Gen. Patrick Brady — and named for his late wife — will be the museum’s largest artifact. (The Shorthorn)
