Young animal lovers have a new reason to visit the Fort Worth Zoo. A little over a year since construction began, the zoo’s new learning center is now open.
Students will have access to programming like crafts + hikes, plus six new classrooms and a multi-use space with flexible walls for classes, camps, and special events.
Here’s a look at the new learning center by the numbers:
$3.6 million. The initial estimated cost of the center, funded by donors like Once Upon A Time.
11,000 sqft. The size of the new facility, which includes indoor and outdoor space.
55. The number of counselors on staff.
5,000. The estimated amount of students the learning space will teach annually. Approximately 4,000 students can be accommodated this summer, though there is capacity for more.
Zoo camp kicks off on Monday, June 3 for the first group of 100 students.
