🍦 Sleep in sweet history

Let’s pretend we win the $977 million Mega Millions jackpot on Friday — what should we buy?

Maybe we’d throw some cash at a $3.495 million home in Bellaire Estates. The English cottage at 2920 Simondale Dr. isn’t just pastoral — it’s historic.

The 4,129-sqft house was built in 1937 for I.C. and Jewel Brannon Parker. The longtime president of Fort Worth’s Pangburn Chocolates, I.C. Parker is credited with the invention of the Drumstick ice cream cone, but his wife Jewel granted the sweet treat its name after comparing it to a fried chicken leg.

Designed by architect Charles Dilbeck, the home has two bedrooms, two full- and two half-bathrooms + a rounded turret. The bright interior features white walls, natural woodwork, and vaulted ceilings. Plus, the 0.85-acre sloping lot descends past a pool into a tree-filled yard.

See it yourself during an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 23.
