  • Timberview Farmstead is now open in south Fort Worth on the former property of Timberview Golf Course, which closed in 2015. The new venture is a teaching farm for kids in underserved communities where they can learn aquaponics, food production, and animal care. (WFAA)

  • Oak Creek Homes, a local subsidiary of Texas-based American Homestar Corp., is launching a new tiny homes production venture. The southeast Fort Worth facility creates Park Cottage Tiny Homes, a wheel-mounted small house “with outdoor enthusiasts in mind.” (Dallas Innovates)
Legacy
  • Capt. David Harris, the first Black pilot to fly for a major US commercial airline, died at 89 years old. Fort Worth-based American Airlines hired the Ohio native in 1964 + Harris went on to have a 30-year career with the airline. He also taught at the American Airlines flight academy.
Biz
  • The US Department of Defense awarded Fort Worth-based aviation manufacturer Bell Textron a $455 million contract to produce 12 AH-1Z helicopters for the government of Nigeria. The work will take place primarily in Cowtown and partially in Amarillo + is expected to be complete in July 2028.

    Today is the first day of spring + seas of indigo blossoms are beginning to ripple along highways and pop up in local parks. The iconic Texas bluebonnets are in for a banner year due to last summer’s drought and fall rains.
