Arlington homebuilder D.R. Horton purchased 151 acres of land in southwest Fort Worth for a new residential development called Longhorn Estates. The four-phase development will have 1,000 homes at West Cleburne Crowley Road and South Hulen Street. Homes will be available starting in late 2024.

Dallas Love Field Airport announced a new enhancement project designed to make the area safer, more accessible, and aesthetically pleasing. Construction will begin soon on Lemmon Avenue around DAL to install sidewalks, bicycle paths, vibrant landscaping, and eye-catching gateway features. Be sure to allow extra time for travel to the airport.
Real Estate
A 32-acre estate in Aledo is on the market for $16 million. Located at 700 Jenkins Rd., the home includes four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a media room, and heated floors in the primary suite. Other features are a pool and a small lake that backs up to a tributary of the Trinity River.

The National Juneteenth Museum released new video renderings of what the interior of the Near Southside exhibit will look like. A short film posted last week highlights the food hall, 250-seat theater, and outdoor plaza. An opening date is scheduled for June 19, 2025.

There’s a new purple pop-up in Sundance Square celebrating TCU’s 150th anniversary. Located at 112 E. 4th St. — around the corner from Funkytown Donuts and Drafts — the Frogs on Fourth experience will have exclusive giveaways, special TCU gear, and a photo wall. It’s open Thursday-Saturday through the end of the year.
Outdoors
The Fort Worth Zoo is gearing up to release Texas horned lizard hatchlings into the wild. The exciting news comes two years after the zoo — with the aid of Texas Parks and Wildlife + the Dallas and Caldwell Zoos — released 204 captive-raised hatchlings into the world.

The 26th annual event will begin with a butterfly costume parade — starting across the street from Grapevine City Hall. Children and pets are invited to wear their favorite butterfly, flower, or caterpillar costumes for a chance to win a prize.
