With the 2023-2024 school year right around the corner, teachers are stocking their classrooms with supplies to make sure their students have the tools they need for success. Oftentimes, teachers use their personal finances to make it happen.

We want to show our support by helping local teachers clear their school supply wishlists. We put a call out in our newsletter last week asking teachers for their school supply wishlists. Here’s how can help:

Christine Grimm | Comanche Springs Elementary
  • “This teacher is new to the area and starting her second year as a 4th-grade teacher but has taught for 15 years.”
  • Wishlist
Cynthia Copeland and Delayne Rodrick | Van Zandt-Guinn Elementary
  • “An amazing second-grade mother-daughter team.”
  • Wishlist
Kylie Gathright | W. A. Porter Elementary
  • “This former Aggie begins her second year teaching 4th grade with enthusiasm and creative plans. Plus, she’s my granddaughter!”
  • Wishlist
Gina Morris | Van Zandt-Guinn Elementary
  • “A veteran elementary teacher that has taught my baby.”
  • Wishlist
If you’re a teacher and don’t have a wishlist but need help with school supplies, check out these resources:

The Welman Project | Teachers can shop for free science lab equipment, math flashcards, googly eyes, decor, books, and more.

SupplyATeacher | This service provides educators with two boxes filled with a semester’s worth of essential school supplies.

Fort Worth ISD | The district will provide free supplies for every elementary school student enrolled for the academic year. Supplies will be distributed during the first week of classes.

The Goodwill Outlet at 2452 Mansfield Hwy. will have a surplus sale on Saturday, August 12 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Items will be sold for just .99 cents per pound to teachers with valid ID.

From the editor
Texans are known for being a little obsessed with our state, and a new Jubilee cruise ship is proving just that with a distinctive Texas star on its bow.

Carnival Cruise Line’s president Christine Duffey said “The Texas star on Carnival Jubilee’s bow is a symbol of our commitment to the Port of Galveston.” The ship — which is the length of more than three football fields — will set sail from Galveston on Western Caribbean itineraries beginning in late December.
