Get ready to party y’all, Cinco de Mayo is this Friday. The holiday honors Mexico’s victory over French forces in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, which became a symbol of resistance against foreign powers.

Here are local events and specials showcasing Mexican culture with music, dance, food, and, of course, margaritas.

🪅 Get the party started

Taco Heads | Celebrate the holiday with a block party during the 2nd annual Cinco de Mayo in the Stockyards celebration. The party starts at 4 p.m. with live music from the Latin Express Band, margaritas, and tacos. Pro tip: Entrance after 6 p.m. is $5.

Don Artemio | Keep the good times rolling and celebrate at the West 7th Mexican eatery with cigar rolling + complimentary cigars, live music from Carlos Ramos, and Maestro Dobel cocktail specials from 5 to 8 p.m.

Pacos | The Magnolia Avenue restaurant is holding a family-friendly Cinco de Mayo Pop-Up with 20+ local vendors, tunes from DJ Carlos, tacos, and cold drinks from 12 to 7 p.m.

🍹 Fuel up with local specials

Toro Toro | Savor the holiday with flavor and culture at this downtown eatery with festive margaritas + dishes like prime ribeye tacos made with chili rub, avocado, verde salsa, charred chili serrano, scallion cheese, and crusted corn tortilla.

Blue Mesa Grill | You’ll want to wear your comfy pants — The Mexican grill is offering a $25 taco buffet with brisket barbacoa, ground beef chorizo, chicken verde, BBQ pulled pork, and grilled veggie enchiladas. Plus, don’t miss out on the $5 blue margaritas.

Blue Goose Cantina | What’s Cinco de Mayo without a mariachi band? All locations will have traditional Mexican music with all-day drink specials like $4 La Flaca Margaritas and $3 Mexican Candy Shots.
