Development

Mansfield will soon be an entertainment destination. Last month, city leaders approved Super Studios Mansfield — a film studio capable of producing big-budget films and shows. The mixed-use development is expected to create 2,000 jobs and will include retail, themed restaurants, and studios. 🎬 (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)

Pets

The Chuck & Brenda Silcox Animal Care & Adoption Center will resume full operations on Saturday, March 18 following a canine influenza outbreak. In order to keep shelter animals healthy going forward, the city is requiring owners that are surrendering animals to provide proof of vaccinations. 🐶

Sweet Lucy’s Pies now has its own storefront near TCU at 3520 Bluebonnet Circle. The bakery has been a longtime mainstay at The Clearfork Farmers Market fulfilling specialty orders. The shop shares the space with Fort Worth Cookie Gal. 🥧

Community

Hillside Community Center along East Maddox Avenue was officially renamed Atatiana Carr-Jefferson Community Center at Hillside over the weekend. City leaders approved the name change in January to honor Atatiana Jefferson, who was killed in 2019.

The Fort Worth Zoo’s new baby Asian elephant officially has a name — Travis. Last week, the zoo announced that the baby boy is named after Texan commander William B. Travis who died at the Battle of the Alamo. Explore the other new additions at the zoo. 🐘

Blue Butterfly Cafe on Camp Bowie suddenly closed over the weekend. The clean-eating cafe opened its doors last spring serving Trim Healthy Mama lifestyle products along with keto, paleo, and vegan food options. Read more from the owners.
