The Panther City Lacrosse Club is kicking off its 2022-2023 season tonight at Dickies Arena. The Panthers take on the Las Vegas Desert Dogs at 7:30 p.m. in the home opener of their second season.
On the Prowl 🐈⬛
Panther City ended the 2021-2022 season with a 7-11 record, finishing just shy of the playoffs in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). The team is represented by the intimidating Prowler mascot, but the unofficial mascot is a bit more cuddly than the name might suggest.
Don’t know about you, but we’re in love with Lil’ Prowl. | Photo courtesy of Panther City LAX
Nicknamed Lil’ Prowl, the team has embraced a little cartoon panther that was drawn as a spoof on a Carolina Panther’s video last year. Now Lil’ Prowl sneaks up on the team’s social media accounts — and apparently, head coach Tracey “TK” Kelusky’s arm. (We guess it’s warranted if you’re named the NLL Coach of the Yearafter the team’s inaugural season.)
No lone panthers here 🎟
Get in on the action from Friday, Dec. 9-Friday, April 21 at Dickies Arena. You can download the full schedule and check out the broadcast schedule to catch the away games too.
There are a few new faces to the 21-playerroster this year. Keep an eye out for Jonathan Donville — a leftyforward, member of the Maryland’s D1 National Champion team, and the first pick of the 2021-2022 NLL Entry Draft.
So we’ll see you tonight, yeah? Your reward for being a true Panther City LAX fan — and for reading to the end of this article — is a free beer. Coach TK is giving away free beverages to the first 500 fans tonight.

People who operate short-term rentals — like Airbnbs or Vrbos — in residential zones will need to obtain a registration ordinance, which will require an annual fee, payment of hotel occupancy taxes, property owner consent, and 24/7 local contact.
Why now?
The city contracted Deckard Technologies Inc. to identify STRs operating within city limits to protect residential neighborhoods from certain commercial encroachment, in addition to other community benefits. An August 2022 report revealed 68 legal STRs and 565 potentially illegal STR properties.
What’s next?
A draft of the registration ordinance will be presented to City Council in late January 2023. The Code Compliance department will enforce zoning violations — regardless of nuisance violations — on a complaint basis and will communicate with owners.

As someone who googles things all day long — in no small part due to the production of this newsletter — I particularly love that you can see the most searched question for your area. A wild guess about what North Texans searched in 2022? Gas prices. ⛽️
