Aggies are speeding to Cowtown

Plans are ramping up for the $350 million Texas A&M expansion downtown.

The Texas A&M System and the city have organized a financing plan that cuts the expected timeline nearly in half. The 10+ year construction plan for the three buildings has been reduced to 6-7 years with a special government corporation that will use bonds to finance the buildings.

As for the timeline, the school plans to break ground on the first building in June 2023. The city’s request for proposals from developers is currently open + the university’s request for proposals is expected to open later this year.

Mayor Mattie Parker says the new campus will help the city recruit new businesses + work with the ones already here.

THE WRAP

Today’s issue was written by Kate.

Editor’s pick: Talk about spooky season — In the 1960s, Charles William “Bill” White used to bury himself alive for entertainment. The “Living Corpse” spent over two years in a clear-topped coffin to talk to his supporters.

The weirdest part — he found love while underground according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Read more about his below-grade romance. ⚰
