Improvements to North Riverside Dr. in Fort Worth, TX

As part of the Capital Improvement Project , which aims to improve infrastructure + facilities across the city, the Fort Worth Transportation & Public Works Department will host a community meeting to discuss the planned changes to North Riverside Dr. — from Clary Ave. to Northeast 28th St.

Here’s everything you need to know before you go.

When + where

  • Wed., Nov. 17 at 6 p.m.
  • Riverside Community Center, 3700 E. Belknap St.

Why the change?

Residents have reported the following concerns:

  • Increased speeding
  • Street racing
  • Reckless driving (as it relates to pedestrian safety)
  • Walkability and bike safety

Planned improvements

A study was done last summer to determine what changes are needed to improve driver and pedestrian safety. Here are a few of the recommendations:

  • Reduce the number of lanes from 4 to 3
  • Reduce lane width
  • Reduce speed limit
  • Create bike lanes
  • Add a two-lane left turn lane

Expected benefits

  • Crash reduction of 19-47% (especially rear-end and left-turn crashes)
  • More predictable path for emergency responders
  • Increased distance between roadway + sidewalks due to bike lane

No advanced notice is required to attend or participate in the discussion.
