Hey y’all, Rebecca McRobbie + Kate Mazade here. Between the two of us, we get the privilege of sharing local news, events, and conversations with 55,000+ readers in Fort Worth, daily — here, and on our socials.

After seven-ish months of bringing you FTWtoday, we thought we should formally introduce ourselves. Consider this us going in for a fist bump, then switching to a handshake, then settling on a hug.

Meet Editor Rebecca ✨

Q: Describe your perfect day in FTW in the length of a Tweet.

A: I’d start with a yoga class at Soul Sweat Yoga — if it’s Sat. I’m bringing my friends to a free class at the Trailhead. Then I’d grab my dog and get some brunch at Press Cafe before taking a stroll along the Trinity. To finish off the already-perfect day, I’d head downtown for dinner + drinks at GRACE with my girlfriends.

Q: You can only choose one local restaurant menu to bring with you to a deserted island — which one is it + why?

A: Without a doubt, Tokyo Cafe. A wasabi crusted salmon roll + hibiscus margarita is the cure to any bad day. I’d happily live off the entire menu for the rest of my life.

Q: What secret menu item from a local restaurant are you kinda wanting to keep secret, but also kinda wanting to share with the city?

A: No gatekeeping here — order the Lao Iced Coffee from ZAAP Kitchen. It’s been keeping me fueled since they reopened last month.

Meet Editor Kate ☀️

Q: If you could only write about one FTW-specific topic for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A: I’d write about design and construction. As a former almost-architect, I’m a building nerd and am always exploring new developments and peaking over construction fences. I love perusing the world-class architecture in the Cultural District + am very excited about the upcoming projects downtown.

Q: If FTW had a one-specific dish, what would it be?

A: Brisket — but not just any brisket. It would be slow-cooked over mesquite at Cooper’s Old Time Pit BBQ or roasted over hickory at Woodshed Smokehouse, and bonus points if it’s sporting Meat Church seasoning. That first bite tastes like summer barbecues and staying up to see the fireflies.

Q: Hit us with your favorite piece of local trivia:

A: My favorite Fort Worth fun fact is about the good ole days. The World’s Second Oldest Continuously Burning Light Bulb has been shining bright in Cowtown since 1908. The “Light Bulb Methuselah” was originally installed in a local opera house before relocating to the Stockyards Museum in 1977.
