With the 2024 Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo kicking off this week, the Will Rogers Memorial Center is teeming with award-winning livestock and hopeful competitors. Here are five unusual competitions that you’re going to want to put on your FWSSR bucket list.
Celebrity Goat Milking Contest
| Saturday, Jan. 13 at 5:30 p.m. | Cattle Arena
Watch local personalities milk bleating goats, followed by a creative costume contest. Last year’s competition featured representatives from the Majic 94.5 radio station.
Miniature Horse Show
| Thursday, Jan. 18 at 9 a.m. | John Justin Arena
The tiny ponies will prance through the arena guided by kiddie cowpokes.
Coon Hunters Mule Jumping
| Saturday, Jan. 20 at 3 p.m. | John Justin Arena
Don’t miss the jumping donkeys — we’re still thinking about last year’s champion Radar, a 33-year-old Appaloosa mule from Henley, Missouri.
Fiddle Showdown
| Sunday, Jan. 21 at 3:30 p.m. | West Arena
Teens ages 14-18 will compete with top-tappin’ tunes for a chance to win scholarship money.
Cowboy Mounted Shooting
| Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 10 a.m. | John Justin Arena
Watch the Wild West come alive as marksmen aim at targets from the backs of galloping horses.
