The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth is upgrading two facilities thanks to $3.89 million in Community Project Funding .
Eastside YMCA
The 55-year-old facility (at 1500 Sandy Ln.) closed in 2020 during the pandemic and never reopened, leaving residents without neighborhood recreational options.
The center will undergo $2.4 million worth of renovations including a new community hub with wellness programs, a demo kitchen, teen programming, and senior connections. Additional plans call for a play pool and early learning facilities.
Construction will start this spring, with the first phase opening in 2024. YMCA still needs $10 million in funding to fulfill all design plans.

William M. McDonald YMCA
The southeast community center (at 2701 Moresby St.) will receive $1.49 million for a new, covered outdoor activity and wellness center. The eco-friendly building will feature a fitness center and serve as a gathering space for concerts, festivals, and movie nights.
The project is still in the development stage.
