There’s big news for housing developments in our city — expect to see 490 new homes built about nine miles southwest of downtown. We’re talking about Chisholm Trail Ranch, a $1.4 billion project that has been in the works since 2016.

A 118-acre deal

This month, real estate investment company Walton Global sold 118 acres of the Chisholm Trail Ranch master plan land to Meritage Homesaka the last portion of the land needing to be sold. While Chisholm Trail Ranch will feature both commercial and residential properties, this most recent sale solely concerns new housing developments — 490 single-family homes, to be exact (with 1,100 homes total in the community).

Outdoors lovers, these may be the homes for you

Future homeowners in the ranch can expect plenty of outdoor access. Not only is the development adjacent to Chisholm Trail Park — the city’s 84.2 acre park that features a skatepark and a preserved prairie ecosystem — but the ranch will feature its own hike-and-bike trail system, one that will connect the area’s parks and schools.

There will also be a community pool, recreation center, and open outdoor spaces throughout the ranch.

Austin Woffinden, Dallas-Fort Worth Division president of Meritage Homes said the company will bring “affordable homes to this area without compromising quality, design, energy-efficiency.”
