In case you’re less of an architecture aficionado and more of a nosy Zillow scroller — It’s ok, we all are — mid-century modern grew out of a desire to simplify the ornate elements of pre-World War architecture. Stemming from the Bauhaus movement, modernism includes many micro-styles, but mid-century was heavily influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright . Think: open floor plans, wood paneling, built-ins, and indoor-outdoor living.
