Fort Worth Housing Solutions is breaking ground on a new apartment community in far north Fort Worth today. Named after Opal Lee, The Opal(3301 Keller Haslet Rd., Roanoke) will feature 339 units — half of which will be offered to households earning less than 80% of the area median income. 🏗️
Opening
Quince’s first US location is gearing up to open at Westbend on Monday, March 27. The restaurant — deemed the “No. 1 Rooftop Restaurant in the World” — will overlook the Trinity River with a chic, but casual atmosphere. Reservations will open soon. 🍽️
Cause
A fundraiser for Glioblastoma Brain Cancer research is happening at Rahr & Sons Brewing this Saturday, March 11. Tickets include unlimited beer, food, a cornhole tournament, and a silent auction. The event is in honor of Ashley Magness, a beloved mom and Arlington teacher who was impacted by the disease. 🎗️
Plan Ahead
For the first time ever, the Zimbabwean sculpture exhibit is coming to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. ZimSculpt will feature 100+ exquisite sculptures by dozens of contemporary Zimbabwean artists. The exhibit runs Saturday, April 15-Sunday, July 30. Garden members will receive free entry. 🎟️

A new way to see the bison 🦬
Bison viewing deck opens at the Fort Worth Nature Center

Guests will be able to view the bison from two new decks — one standing 8-ft-tall and another 14-ft-tall. The decks will be accessible by ramps and connect two existing trails at the nature center.
Bison at the Refuge 🦬
The bison herd — the only of its kind in North Texas — has roamed the refuge for 50 years. According to the nature center, the bison are an important part of the land management program as they graze in five pastures totaling ~210 acres.
The nature center said the viewing decks will provide additional space for education programs and other events to expand the visitor experience.
Visit the refuge at 9601 Fossil Ridge Rd. to check out the 3,621-acre preserve with 20 miles of hiking trails.
A ribbon-cutting is scheduled for Thursday, March 9.
