We’re learning more details about the National Juneteenth Museum and its impact on the local community. City Council members met this week to discuss the future of the project at Evans Avenue and Rosedale Street. These are the major takeaways:
The 50,000-sqft project is expected to create a $70 million capital infusion as an Urban Village Global tourist destination.
The museum will create a figurative and physical gateway to the Historic Southside Neighborhood.
It will include 55 residential units designed to infuse residents back into the Southside neighborhood.
50+ full-time jobs and 55+ part-time jobs will be created.
The venue will honor its commitment to expanding the local art scene with the addition of historical galleries and a 250-seat theater.
The museum is currently in a capital campaign and organizers plan to break ground during the first quarter of 2023. A grand opening is scheduled for June 19, 2025.
THE WRAP

Editor’s pick: Fun fact about me, I’ve traveled to 45 states and I stand by Preply’s report of Fort Worth being one of the nicest cities. Whether it’s having a simple conversation at the grocery storecheckout or getting a friendly wave while I’m walking my dog — I always look forward to coming back home.
